All praise is due to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds.

Believing in God means believing in His existence. To believe without any doubt that He is the only Lord (Rabb), He is the only God (Lord) and He has many names and attributes. ” So faith in God involves four things. The person who implements these four things will be considered a true believer.
What does it mean to believe in Allah? importance of belief in Allah
What does it mean to believe in Allah?

First: Belief in the Existence of God: Just as the innumerable documents of the Islamic Shari'ah prove the existence of God, so the conscience and general instincts of man unquestionably prove the existence of God.

1. Evidence of human instinct for the existence of God: Every creation will be self-motivated to believe in its Creator - this is logical. There is no need for deep thinking or long research for this. As soon as he is created, he will continue on this normal healthy instinct, until some depravity enters his heart which turns him from one side to the other. That is why the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said, “Every newborn is born on his natural instincts. Then his parents made him a Jew, a Christian, or a fire-worshiper.[Bukhari, 1358 and Muslim, 2658]

2. Evidence of man's conscience about the existence of God: The only conscience can understand that all the creatures that have passed or will pass from the beginning to the end of the world must have a Creator. There is no way out. For, just as no creation can exist on its own, so it is not possible for it to come into existence by chance. He cannot exist on his own.

Because no object has the power to create you. How can a person who was non-existent before he came into existence by a creator? Similarly, it is not possible to become miraculous. Because behind every event, behind every action, there is a blacksmith.
After all, the creation of the world and the emergence of mankind in such a well-planned, well-regulated, well-coordinated manner proves conclusively that it did not happen by chance.

It is not possible for anything to come into existence on its own in a chaotic manner, and it is a far cry to survive in such a consistent manner.
So when creation does not have the power to give existence to itself, and when it is unreal to be spontaneous, then it proves that there is an existential giver. And he is, "Allah, the Lord of the worlds."

In describing this irrefutable intellectual proof, Allah Himself says, “Were they created without a Creator? Or are they the creators themselves? ” [Surat al-Tur: 52:35]
That is, they were not created without a Creator, and they did not create themselves. So this proves that Allah created them. For this reason, when Zubair ibn Mutayim heard the Prophet (peace be upon him) recite these verses of Surah At-Tur: Did they create the heavens and the earth? Rather, they are disbelievers. Do they have the treasures of your Lord? Or are they its controllers? [Surah At-Tur 52: 35-37]
Then he said in spite of being a polytheist: "Let my heart fly away. These verses list the first light of faith in my heart. ”[Bukhari quotes the hadith in several places]

We can understand the matter better through an example- “Someone came to you and told the story of a picturesque building. Surrounded by a flower garden, a beautiful canal flowing at the foot, the garden is adorned with beds, couches, and carpets, beauty is spreading all around. Then he said, this is the building, and all the decorations around it have been done by themselves. No one made these. If you hear this, you will undoubtedly prove the man a liar and make fun of his claim. If so, how is it possible to accept that this vast universe, the heavens, the planets, the stars, the constellations, everything so perfect, so perfect, has been created by itself without a Creator?

Even in the head of a desert Bedouin, this logical proof of the existence of the Creator was easily played out. He has expressed it without hesitation. When he was asked, "How did you know your Lord?" He said, “When you see camel droppings, you understand that camels have walked this path. When you see the footprints, you realize that someone is walking on this path. Then why don't the layered skies, the lands divided into continents, the waves, the turbulent seas all prove that there must be an omniscient great Creator?
Second: Belief in God's authority and sovereignty:

That is, one must be steadfast in the belief that Allah is the only Lord, the only Lord. He has no other partner or partner in managing this universe.

The Lord is the one who creates, manages, and owns. So - there is no creator other than Allah. There is no god but Allah. There is no other world director without him. This declaration is repeated in many places in the Holy Qur'an - "Know that He is the Lord of creation and command." [Surah A'raf 7:54] “Say!

Who is it that sends you sustenance from the heavens and the earth? Or who is it that has full control over the ears and the eyes? And who is it that brings forth the living from the dead and the dead from the living? And who is the one who manages all the affairs? They will say, "He is God." So say, "Why do you not fear Him?" [Surah Yunus 10:31]
"He guides all affairs from the heavens to the earth. Then it will come to him one day. ”[Surah Ha-Mim Sajda, 32:05]“
He is Allah, your Lord. Sovereignty belongs to him alone. And those whom you call upon besides Allah do not possess (even the most insignificant) covering over the palm-trees. ”[Surah Fatir 35:13]

Notice with a little attention. In Surah Al-Fatihah, Allah says, مَالِكِ يَوْمِ الدِّينِ meaning "He is the Lord of the Day of Judgment." In another verse, مَلِكِ يَوْمِ الدِّينِ means "He is the King of the Day of Judgment." If you combine these two qurats, a wonderful meaning will come out. The word "مَلِكِ" (king) is clearer and more meaningful than the word "مَالِكِ" (ruler) to mean kingdom and authority. But sometimes "مَلِكِ" (king) means only the king without name and authority. That is, he is “مَلِكِ” or king, but he cannot be called “مَالِكِ” or ruler because he has no authority or power in his hands. Therefore, combining the words "مَالِكِ" and "مَلِكِ" in the two verses of the Qur'an, both kingdom and authority are determined for Allah.

Third, belief in the deity of God:

That is, one must believe in one's heart that Allah is the only God, the true God. No one else is his partner in worship. Ilah (الاله) means one who is worshiped with reverence and love for the sake of honor and greatness. And this is basically the meaning of La ilaha illallah  لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّ. That is, there is no true god but Allah. God says, “And your God is One God. There is no god but He, the Beneficent, the Merciful. ”[Surat al-Baqara, 2: 163] He added: He (Allah) is founded on justice and fairness. There is no true god but He. He is the Almighty, the Wise. [Surah Al 'Imran 3:18]

Whatever is worshiped other than Allah, or whatever is worshiped with Allah, is invalid.

Because no one else has the right to worship. Allah says, “Allah, He is the only truth. Whomsoever they call upon instead of him, it is rejected. And Allah is the Highest, the Greatest. ”[Surah Hajj 22:62]

He cannot be worthy of worship if he is called a god or deity other than Allah. Regarding "Lat, Manat, Uzza", Allah says, "These are just some of the names that you and your forefathers left behind." [Surat an-Najm: 23]

In narrating the story of Yusuf (as), Allah (SWT) said: Yusuf said to his two companions in prison: Or a mighty God? Apart from Him, you worship only some of the names that you and your ancestors have given. Allah has not sent any proof of this. ”[Surah Yusuf 12: 39-40]

Therefore, no one is worthy of worship except Allah. Ibadat has to be integrated only for him. No close angel, or prophet, or anything else can be his partner in this case. That is the main slogan of the call of all the prophets from the beginning to the end was the same. "There is no true god but Allah." لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ.

Allaah says: “I have not sent before you any Messenger but it is revealed to him that there is no true God but Me. So worship Me alone. "[Surah Ambiya, 21:25]

Allah further says," I have sent a Messenger to every nation that you may worship Allah and reject Taghut. "[Surah Nahal, 16:36] How can the polytheists worship other false gods besides Allah ?!

Fourth: Believing in the beautiful names and attributes of Allah: that is, distorting any kind of tahrif quality, denying the ta'atil quality, taqif quality, Or accepting without hesitation without determining the nature of the feature or giving it a resemblance to the quality of the tamsil creature.
Allah says, “And Allah has a beautiful name. So you will call him by those names. And shun those who pervert His name. Soon will they be recompensed for what they used to do. ”[Surah A'raf, 6: 160]

This verse is a clear proof that Allah has a definite beautiful name. Allah says, "To Him belongs the highest attribute in the heavens and the earth, and He is the Mighty, the Wise." [Surah Rum, 30:26] Because الثمَثَلُ الأَعْلَى meaning in the verse is الوصف الأكمل ie perfect quality. These two verses prove the name of Allah and the matter of Sifat. Besides, detailed descriptions of them exist in the Qur'an and Hadith.

The chapter on "God's Name and Sifat" is a branch of knowledge on which the Muslim Ummah has been engaged in extreme dissent. Based on these differences, they have been divided into different factions. Our position in this divisive slippery background is God-directed "safe position." He said, "If there is any difference of opinion among you, then return to Allah and His Messenger, if you believe in Allah and the Last Day." That is the best end. ”[Surat an-Nisa ': 59]

Besides, in this case, we review the views of our virtuous predecessors Sahaba Keram and Tabi'i. Because they were the most competent and wise people to understand the meaning of the words of Allah and His Messenger.

Abdullah Ibn Masood (R) praised the Companions and said: “If any people want to follow a path, let him follow the path of those who have died. Because the survivors are not safe from the fear of fitna. And all the dead are the companions of the Prophet. They are the purest and purest in heart, the deepest in knowledge, and the least in artificial behavior. They are a group of people whom Allah has chosen to establish His religion and to be the companions of His Messenger. So give them due respect. Follow the path they follow. Because they were founded on the right path. ”

Anyone who deviates from the path shown by the Companions and the Tabi'een in this chapter (God's Name and Sifat) has made a mistake. Has gone astray. The believers have fallen off the road. And Allah's decreed punishment is justified so that He says, "Whoever disobeys the Messenger after the guidance has been revealed, and leaves the path of the believers and follows another path, I will return him to it and cast him into Hell." What a miserable destination. "[Surah An-Nisa '4: 115]

Allaah has made it a condition for guidance that faith must be like the faith of the companions of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him). Irshad said, "If they believe as you have believed, then they will be guided." [Surah Al-Baqarah 2: 137]
That rate will come down. Therefore, in this chapter on the name and attributes of Allah, it is necessary for us to-

  • We will establish for Allah only those names and attributes which He or His Messenger (peace be upon him) have established.
  • I will place the verses and hadiths related to this above its apparent meaning; I will not go looking for meaning.
  • We will keep the form in which the companions of the Prophet (peace be upon him) believed in these. Because they were the most knowledgeable among the Ummah.

Besides, we need to know that there are four things that are like a dangerous ditch. Whoever falls into any of these, his faith in the name and attributes of Allah will not be properly realized. In this case, in order to maintain the right level of faith, one must avoid these four things. These are tahrif (distortion of quality), ta'teel (denial of quality), tamsil (similarity with the quality of creation), and taqeef (determining the shape of quality or feature).

(1) Tahrif (تحريف):

Changing the Qur'anic or Hadith narrations (clear documents) concerning the name and attributes of Allah from their proper meaning, or diverting them to other meanings, which Allah and His Messenger did not intend. Such as- (يد الله) that is the hand of Allah. The attribute of God's hand is proved by many verses in the Qur'an and Hadith. Here it is tahrif to take "hand" in the sense of blessing or miracle.

(2) Ta'teel (ططيل):

Denying all the names and attributes of Allah or denying any of them is called "Tatil". Therefore, if a person refuses to accept any of the names and attributes of Allah mentioned in the Qur'an and Hadith, then he has not been able to implement his faith properly.

(3) Tamsil (تمثيل):

To compare any attribute or adjective of Allah with the attribute of creation is called "tamsil". For example, if someone says, "God's hand is like a man's hand, or the way God hears the creatures, God also hears, or God sits on the throne as a man sits on a chair."

Comparing the attributes of the Creator with the attributes of creation is undoubtedly invalid. God says, “There is nothing like Him. He is the All-Hearing, the All-Seeing. ”[Surah Shura: 11]

(4) Taqeef تقيف (تكييف):

Determining the nature and reality of the attributes of Allah is called "taqeef". That is, man determines the nature of God's attributes according to the race of his imagination or with the help of the cunning of language. It is unquestionably forbidden and void. It is never possible for a man to know the nature of God's attributes. Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning): “And they cannot overcome him with knowledge.” [Surah Ta-Ha: 110]

The person who has been able to fully implement these four aspects of ‘Iman Billah’  is the one who has properly believed in Allah.

Almighty God: Keep us steadfast in the faith. And He is the All-Knowing.
